Musings of a middle aged woman

The best thing in life is knowing we will all die eventually. You may see this as something morbid or sick but I see it as a way to put everything into perspective in your life. Its a way of reminding yourself what is important and what is not.

1. Do not sweat the small stuff. If things go wrong and instead of freaking out just let it go. People make mistakes or errors that we cant avoid, just take a deep breathe and MOVE ON. Everything will be OK eventually. I am positive that on your death bed you wont remember what that small irritating thing was.

2. Having my 3rd boy (and definite last) recently, I started to be more aware of the smallest smiles, joyous chuckles and tight hugs. They grow too fast and I have to be aware to stop and smell the roses in this case. To treasure this and experience life through his eyes. This is something I want to look back on and remember with warmth in my heart.

3. Things are just things! You will never be able to bring those things when you die. What you can bring with you is the love you shared and received with the people you cherish in your heart. That is the most important commodity in the next lifetime. So the next time you stress yourself out or hurt your relationships because of material things please stop and realize that it’s just a THING. I’ll say it again… LET IT GO! It’s really not worth it.

4. Work is important. Work is essential to be able to sustain you in this life. Work is also important to learn new skills and to develop yourself. To grow into a productive human being. HOWEVER, work is not good when you always put it first in your life. Work is not good when you set aside your family. NO ONE SAID in their death that they were glad they worked so hard at the expense of not having an enriching and loving family life. NO ONE. Realize that relationships are what matter most in LIFE.

5. You reach a stage in your life when you start having regrets. Regrets of certain life decisions that you had to make. It might have been wrong or it might have been avoidable depending on the circumstances. Let it go!!!! We are not perfect human beings. We all live life learning as we go. Come to terms that we cannot turn back time. To undo something we can’t is useless. However, we can either patch it up or try to find a solution if there is still time. If it’s not possible then don’t stress just let it go.

6. Being at peace with who you are. Accept that not everyone will like you. When you are dying and you look back you will want to leave this world being authentic to who you are. There is no need to keep pleasing others because you need them to like you. There is no need to keep up with other people’s criteria of society’s high level of acceptance. There is no need to care what other people think about you. Live your life true to who you are. You will die having a lighter and happier heart.

7. Try to have a grateful, loving and compassionate heart. Work your way towards the end of your life into being a GOOD person. NOT a wealthy materialistic person.

8. Stand up for what you believe in. Whether it being a good cause or to help defend someone who can’t do it for themselves. You want to die knowing that you had a voice and you tried to be someone who could change the world. No matter how small it was.

9. We are all going through life’s journey together. Never judge, never condemn or ridicule other people. Respect others the same way you yourself should be respected.

10. LOVE is all that matters in this world. Be it love for your children, spouse, parents or friends. LOVE is what we can bring with us when we all die.

DIY : Tinted Lip Gloss

Petroleum Jelly

An old favorite lipstick

(CUTE) Tin container

ceramic plate (microwave safe)

Take a blob of petroleum jelly and lipstick and place it in the ceramic container.

easy peasy ūüėÄ

Depending on how dark or how light it will be, will all

depend on how much lipstick tint and petroleum jelly you put in.

So GO CRAZY and try several mixtures that will best suit you.

Place it in the microwave for about 3-5min on medium-hi.

Take it out midway to stir it all together, then place it back in to finish off.

BE CAREFUL since it will be really HOT, pour it in quickly into your tin container.

Then place it in the freezer for about a minute to set.

This is how mine turned out!

Not bad right?!?

OR you can also place it in a container like this.

I personally prefer the tin just because I really like the design.

I am quite happy with the color and moisture level as well.

I love doing this because I can make use of my old lipsticks.

I have also made them as Christmas gifts before for some friends and they loved it.

It is a great DIY in less than 15min.

Kids please ask an adult to help you out when doing this!

Current Obsession: Apple Cider Vinegar

I came across Apple Cider Vinegar last week while I was doing some research on how to ease pain (gall bladder type) using natural stuff.

I found several that said the same thing: Apple Cider Vinegar + Apple Juice.

After 4 days of irritating and throbbing pain I was willing to try anything.

Lo and behold it actually worked within 10 minutes of drinking the concoction. It was a natural remedy miracle!

I became an instant advocate for ACV,  so I started to do further research about it and its many uses and health benefits.

So these are my following recommendations for using ACV.

For weight loss:

Mix together 2tsps of ACV with about 8oz. of water. Drink this mixture every morning before breakfast and before dinner.

What this does to you:

¬†It helps aid in your body’s digestion.

So instead of your body absorbing the bad gunk from the food you take in.It will actually help your body cleanse it away as well as absorb the proper nutrients we need.

Personal Benefits:

It helps with constipation too, yahoo!

Tried and tested!

It is amazing!

For your skin:

Mix together in a bottle 1 part ACV + 1 part Rosewater & Glycerin Mixture (1 1/2Cup Rosewater & 1/4 Cup Glycerin)

What this does to you:

ACV is a natural antiseptic. (Helps remove dirt and grime)

Rosewater smells wonderful and It’s soothing properties help irritated skin (it also is¬†anti-inflammatory). A great¬†source of antioxidants, which can help strengthen skin cells and regenerate skin tissue. Wonderful for sensitive skin!

Glycerin is a natural humectant. It absorbs and retains water, keeping skin soothed and hydrated. Moisturizer extraordinaire!

Combine all three together and place it in a cute spray bottle of your choice. Like this:

Do not spray directly on your face!!!

I had that INSANE idea and some dripped into my eye. It hurt like hell because of the vinegar. Yeah, I know…stupid me!

So it would be best to spray the solution on a cotton ball and gently tap it on to¬†your skin. Once dry, you may then follow it up with your favorite moisturizer of your choice. I use Rosehip oil¬†from A’kin (That is for another post for me to share with you).

Personal Benefits:

Having lived most of my adulthood with big pores it was an absolute delight to notice them much smaller. I could also feel that my face did not have that many dry patches as before. My skin felt softer and smoother.

I use this in the morning after I cleanse my face and right before I moisturize. At night, I just use the Rosewater/Glycerin mixture.

Getting older makes you realize that not everything advertized (expensive branded potions) can help you. Sometimes the simplest tonics are awesome. Going back to basics is the way to go!

Always remember that you should consult a Dermatologist first if you have very sensitive skin and/or have problems with severe acne. Try a patch test as well so that you may check for any allergic reactions.
